ID Cards

Id cards

SSI Technologies' history could very well be written on the backs of many of the worlds ID cards. We've pioneered much of the technology that is used to create todays ID cards world wide. This rich history in ID cards has equipped us to handle the sensitive and complicated task of managing large data bases of confidential personal data.

  • 1971 - Developed "solid plastic" polyester-based Student ID with variable information
  • 1973 - Developed laminate to adhere to "wet" Polaroid film for security badges.
  • 1977 - Developed first electronic photo identification camera.
  • 1984 - Produced first Teslin based plastic card with variable information.
  • 1989 - Developed high security identification credential for Baja, Mexico, which contained 21 fields of data.
  • 1990 - Identified over 1,000,000 Mexican voters in Baja, Mexico with Teslin based identification credential.
  • 1993/94 - Produced over 55,000,000 Mexican voter credentials for Mexico.
  • 1992-97 - Developed and produced National Identification credentials for Russia, Latvia, Australia, Iran, Croatia, and South Africa.

Today's ID cards aren't much different from the cards we produced 30 years ago. But the technology used to produce cards has changed dramatically. The advent of on-site card production equipment had significantly diminished the number of ID cards SSI produces. But with the introduction of variable digital offset printing on equipment like our HP Indigo 3050 and HP Indigo 5000. SSI is a worthy contender for large corporate and national ID programs.
