In 1969 Ron Goade founded SSI (Stik/Strip Incorporated) and pioneered the variable-imaged plastic card industry, creating many of the procedures for imaging, scanning, and encoding presently used by most plastic card producers.

The history of SSI is vast and includes many products in use by the majority of us today.
The first prepaid card was developed by SSI for AT&T, a telephone prepaid card. SSI’s positive/negative scan program was written to ensure the authenticity of all card data.
Problems of fraudulent voting inMexicobrought the first program of its kind to SSI. The problems of possible fraud was a challenge that resulted in the largest production of voter credentials ever. The high security laminated teslin cards included 24 fields of data with matching verification. Over 55,000,000 produced in nine months resulting in a safe and secure election forMexico.
Blockbuster’s initial membership program required a single card for each location. This caused problems for both the member and Blockbuster. A requirement for the new cards included a matching magnetic encode that was developed by SSI and is still in use today. A one piece laminated mailer with two identical magnetic striped cards solved the issue. Multi millions were created and mailed to every Blockbuster member in theU.S.
Perhaps the best known achievement was the Blockbuster Gift Card, the first of its kind and replaced the gift certificates. Multiple problems existed with gift certificates that included fraud, lack of accountability, duplication and income liabilities. The challenge was met by developing a magnetic striped card that exceeded practically all expectations and is widely used by the majority of us today.
ACCLAIM Mailer is a direct mail piece that is unique and contains tracking information through the break-off plastic card design. This attractive product allows tracking of both mailings and redemption. Added value’s exist in the technologies of the piece giving the mailer valuable data for future marketing projects.
